Great way to learn about the Antarctic

The best 5 hours we have spent for a long time. We took the VIP pass and our guide (Gabrielle) was just fabulous - so knowledgeable. So much to do and learn. Penguin feeding was great - and the behind the scenes pass was full of learning. The Haaglund ride was great, the snow storm dome a real experience (remember to take a warm coat) and the 4D presentation was cool. Thanks. Would highly recommend it for all ages.

Totally worth the money

We had a fantastic three hours here with our 12 and 15 year old. Watched the little blue penguins being fed at 10.30am then the highlight was the ride on the Haaglund. So much fun! The 4D movie was cool. The snow storm was freaky. The information available was interesting and informative. So much to do. It was all so well done. Highly recommend to all.

Great link to another continent

We hadn’t been here since we were childless 15 years ago and it had changed heaps. The Haaglund ride is fab. Not too scary for the kids but authentic enough. 4d movie also great and had great effects. Penguin feeding also fun and the Antarctic storm was fun as well. Loved the science section at the start too. Easy two hours spent here and well worth the money.

Day trip to the arctic

Visited with friends. We got a free pickup and drop off with the arctic shuttle bus. Enjoyed the 3D cinema, the penguins in their habitat, got a quick cool down at their arctic storm simulator. And got some cute pics with their snow dogs. Had a quick bite at the cafe before we went home. Defenetly worth one visit :)

Great day out!

What a great way to spend a rainy day in Chch! We especially loved riding in the Swedish made Hagglund vehicles on the obstacle course which simulated hazards found in the Antarctic. Loved seeing the Little Blue Penguins up close and it was fun to pop into the storm room and experience the high winds and extreme cold of a day in Antarctica.

We loved the penguins

Wonderful day out for me and my 9 year old daughter, we got the VIP backstage penguin pass, and we loved the penguins. The staff are amazing, really friendly and helpful. Worth every cent.

Interesting and FUN!

This was much more fun than I expected! I was the only "older person" going with 4 uni students, but we all really enjoyed ourselves. The huskies, the 4D movie and the Haggland ride were the best parts! Very friendly and helpful staff. The lady feeding the penguins was very knowledgable. Nice gift shop and cafe. Excellent displays. Definitely recommended.

Fun and engaging

Have visited a couple of times in past 20 years and it's still awesome! Heaps of exhibits - my faves on this trip were the Husky Zone (thanks Husky Rescue NZ!), the mock US Air Force LC130, Scott's hut, the Little Blue Penguins, the film of Antarctica in a Year. This centre is a huge asset for Christchurch. Definitely recommend a visit for adults and kids.
