Hagglund Ride

Climb aboard the amazing all terrain amphibious Antarctic vehicle - the Hagglund!

Sit back, buckle up, hold on and experience travelling across rough terrain in this unique and exciting machine! The ride simulates travelling conditions scientists experience riding in a Hagglund across the ice pack.

The outdoor adventure course is uniquely designed to put the Hagglund through its paces in a fun but safe environment. You'll experience a highly authentic and exhilarating ride of around 10 minutes in duration, over mounds, a crevasse, speeding across open ground and through a pond of water to display the Hagglund's amphibious capabilities.

 

A note about ride constraints on busy days

The XTREME Pass allows you unlimited Hagglund rides, however, please note that tickets are allocated to certain pre-allotted ride times, to cater for numbers. We do not want to give the impression that you queue for the next Hagglund like a London bus! Our ticketing staff will issue your ride ticket at entry for the next available Hagglund. While most visitors appear to be satisfied with just the one ride the Xtreme Pass entitles you to as many rides as you would like. Given that Hagglunds seat 16 at a time this will naturally result in delays IF the attraction is especially busy in peak periods such as school holidays, Christmas/New Year and long weekends.

Therefore our suggestion is, if you think you'll be a multi-ride customer, time your visit to avoid these peak periods. Even time of day can make a difference. It is quieter, with less waiting time for a Hagglund, up to 11.00-ish. If you arrive around lunchtime on a busy day the odds of riding the Hagglund within a short time are very limited!

If you wish to ride the Hagglund a second time you simply request another ride ticket at ticketing and jump on the next available Hagglund. We find this ticket system to be the fairest method of allocating you a seat rather than having you wait in line for sometimes up to an hour.

Please note that the XPRESS pass excludes the Hagglund ride and entry to the 4D EXTREME show. If you wish to ride the Hagglund you must purchase an XTREME pass.
