School Holiday Activities
Need something to entertain your children in the school holidays? Send them to Antarctica! Well…. not literally, but the next best thing! Enrol them in our Holiday Programme and we’ll entertain them and educate them about all things Antarctic!
Parents and caregivers! Do your children want adventure? Do your children want fun? Do your children want excitement?
Then during the April 2017 school holidays have them join the Antarctic Explorers Programme.
Children will discover our Little Blue Penguins, ride the Hagglund, find out how to survive in Antarctica, go exploring around the centre, play games and much, much more!
The programme will be running from 18th – 21st April and 24th & 26th – 28th April.
No programmes running on Easter Monday or Anzac Day.
Antarctic Explorers is suitable for children aged 6 to 13 years and runs from 8.45am – 5.00pm. The cost for this programme is $45 per day. (Children 5 years of age may attend if they are accompanied by an older sibling).
A $8 yummy lunch pack is available to pre order. The pack consists of a sandwich, a jelly cup or similar, raisins, carrot sticks, cheese and crackers, a piece of fruit and a piece of slice such as lolly cake. Some dietary requirements are unable to be catered for.
There are only limited places available per day, so book now to avoid disappointment.
For more information and bookings, please download the consent form below and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org . An email will be sent to secure your place in the programme. Final confirmation will be sent once payment has been made.
Lab in a Box (LIAB)Lab in a box (LIAB) is a portable science laboratory, retro fitted into a 20ft shipping container. Our Lab is fully equipped, with both science gear and people – namely our awesome educators! Experience science as you never have before and join us on our Far from Frozen - Antarctica Explorations, for some good hands-on science about the “coolest - coldest” place on Earth.
The Lab in a box exhibit will run for the duration of the School Holidays, commencing on Easter Saturday, with daily showings at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm.
The sessions run for 40 mins.
The LIAB will have the Far from Frozen exhibit, the Augmented reality Sandbox and the 3D interactive mapping available, as well as the Hologram visor. The topic is Antarctica and Climate Change, how our current carbon emission are affecting the planet and the consequences of that.
Far from Frozen was developed in association with Antarctica New Zealand, the University of Otago and the New Zealand Antarctic Research Institute with support from the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment’s Unlocking Curious Minds fund.
